Local recruitment: Integrated Watershed Management Assistant

Hourly Wage Range: $18.38 – $22.98

Reporting to the Manager, Watershed Plans and Strategies, you will be responsible for assisting on a wide variety of projects related to climate change and watershed management.

What you offer

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary program related to environmental management, geography, biology, or other related disciplines.
  • Experience with biological data collection.
  • Familiarity with the presentation of technical information to public audiences.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An interest in climate change resilience and watershed ecology and management.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite products.
  • Valid G class driver’s license.

What you will do

  • Assist in field research assessing carbon sequestration rates in restoration sites and urban trees in the Lake Simcoe watershed.
  • Test and compare commonly available tools for estimating carbon sequestration in natural heritage features at both a site- and landscape-scale.
  • Assist in the review of natural heritage system plans by compiling information on climate resilience of native species.
  • Participate in and assist with meetings, workshops, and public open houses, as required.

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
