The Sector Programme Water Policy – Innovations for Resilience (WaPo-RE) supports BMZ with technical advice and the development of concepts that promote access to a secure water supply and sanitation and combines efforts to establish them within the international policy dialogue through implementation in the partner countries. The Sector Programme WaPo-RE is currently looking for an intern in the field of Sanitation and Hygiene to support the “Resilient WASH” Component, more specifically the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA) Secretariat (hosted by WaPo-RE) with various tasks related to communication, management of WASH networks and content.

Ihre Aufgaben

As an intern for the GIZ sector programme “Water Policy – Innovations for Resilience” the focus of your work will be on supporting the day-to-day business of the Secretariat of the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA) and the SFD portal. This includes tasks such as:

  • Managing the SuSanA mailbox (communication with members), membership application processes, library, and project database as well as the upload of SFD reports on the portal
  • Supporting the development and improvement of the SuSanA online platform (
  • Managing the promotion and communication of events and activities through the different communication channels and social networks of SuSanA
  • Supporting the newsletter quarterly release, the update of the event calendar and the smooth running of the Forum Discussion of SuSanA
  • Assisting in the logistics and organization of SuSanA online and offline meetings, webinars, workshops, and events
  • Reviewing documents and texts on sanitation-related topics as well as the layout and design of publications
  • Actively participating to internal and external meetings and work sessions and supporting the documentation and minutes-taking
  • Contributing to any other tasks assigned by your supervisors

Ihr Profil

  • At least 3 years of university studies in Environmental Sciences, Political Sciences and/or Communication and related (journalism, etc.); a Master’s degree in one of these fields will be considered as a serious asset
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; German, Spanish, Arabic or French is an asset
  • High affinity for working with digital tools, social networks, and internet platforms
  • Excellent intercultural communication skills and ability to motivate and engage others
  • Ability to work with minimal instruction and good organisational and planning skills
  • Willingness to learn on an autonomous basis and take on new tasks and challenges
  • Previous experience in international aid and/or development work preferred

 We pay a monthly stipend of €2.064,- (gross).
