Purpose

Conducts research related to biological, biomimetic, and synthetic membranes. Serves as an expert in supramolecular chemistry, with some expertise in polymer chemistry that will be able to synthesize biomimetic artificial channels and block copolymers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct organic synthesis, polymer synthesis and artificial and biological channel characterization.
  • Manage syntheric portion of the lab.
  • Assist in proposal preparation.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related fields
  • Experience with organic synthesis
  • Experience with proposal writing
  • Good publication record
  • Experience with electrochemical measurements of membranes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supramolecular channel synthesis, block copolymer synthesis (anionic polymerization)
  • Experience with transport measurements including with electrophysiological measurements, stopped flow bases measurements and other common spectroscopic assays

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Working conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Work may be performed in a research laboratory.
