Job Title: Post Doctoral Scholar

Department: ERIK | Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center

Post-Doctoral Scholar to join an interdisciplinary team working on projects in renewable energy and water resources combining remote sensing with advanced deep learning techniques (e.g., fully convolutional neural networks). The objective will be to identify and characterize specific Earth surface features at global scales using large volumes of multiple air and spaceborne remote sensing datasets and deep learning tools, as well as detect and measure changes through time. Tasks will include development of efficient training dataset construction workflows, utilizing ground truth collected by other members of our team, analysis surface feature morphology and remotely sensed characteristics and development and applications of deep learning methods.

Job Responsibilities:
50% to identify and characterize specific Earth surface features at global scales using large volumes of multiple air and spaceborne remote sensing datasets
15% Development of training dataset construction workflows
15% Development of applications of deep learning methods
10% Publication of research results
10% Dissemination of research by presentation of results at national/international conferences
