The Swiss Centre for Applied Ecotoxicology (Ecotox Centre), located at Eawag in Dübendorf and EPF Lausanne, is committed to providing the expertise and scientific tools to measure, assess and minimize the environmental risks of chemicals. Scientist Position in Mixture Risk Assessment (m/f/d) 80-100%
We are looking for an environmental scientist with a strong background in ecotoxicological risk assessment including mixture toxicity theory. Past experience in soil ecotoxicology or in the regulation of pesticides are an asset.
The position is intended to strengthen the risk assessment group at the Ecotox Centre in fulfilling its role as an intermediate between science, authorities, industry, media and society. There is a strong focus on applied research and finding solutions for practical needs from cantonal and federal authorities. The successful candidate will be required to actively participate in projects, present research results at scientific conferences, write reports and scientific papers, organize and lecture in advanced education courses, provide expert consulting and maintain strong links with Swiss stakeholders.
The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in environmental sciences with emphasis on environmental risk assessment and mixture toxicity theory. Several years of professional experience in a regulatory work environment (e.g. authorities, consulting, industry), (inter-)national working groups and collaborations with stakeholders is beneficial. The candidate will be expected to show initiative, to independently plan and manage projects, work efficiently as part of a team, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as time management and organizational skills. Fluency in spoken and written English and German is required; French language skills are an additional asset.
