We are NSW’s bulk water supplier, river operator and your one-stop shop for licensing, water trades and water information.  We supply two thirds of water used in NSW from our 42 dams, rivers and pipelines to regional towns, irrigators, Sydney Water and local water utilities.

In this role as a Water Regulation Officer in the Assessments & Approvals Team, you will be responsible for completing environmental and technical assessments under the relevant legislative framework, to make recommendations on water access licences, dealings and approvals. This is a customer service-based role, which requires you to possess strong interpersonal skills and motivation to deliver our services to meet both public and organisational expectations.

You will be driven to achieve outcomes and thrive in a high-volume work environment where you have clear deadlines and expectations set. You will enjoy working within a team and take accountability for your work outputs. You take ownership in dealing with challenging situations and difficult customers, by demonstrating effective negotiation and communication skills to achieve positive (or desirable) outcomes.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high level customer service to stakeholders, resolving customer queries and complaints and providing information where required in a timely manner.
  • Completing environmental and technical assessments under the legislative framework to make recommendations on applications under the Water Management Act 2000.
  • Support the management of objections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide input and proactive advice in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the A&A team.

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Diploma or degree in relevant discipline, or relevant equivalent industry experience
  • Extensive experience working within a regulated environment to process customer applications
  • Demonstrated understanding of spatial mapping systems
  • Experience resolving customer matters to ensure effective outcomes
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a busy team environment that includes both office and remote working
  • Flexibility to adapt to an everchanging environment
  • A current Drivers Licence
