This position is currently responsible for leading the Water Licensing Administration Team based in multiple locations and provides support and advice to staff within the Water Management and Use Team in licensing matters under the Water Act 2000. The role includes engaging with external clients to respond to enquiries and provide advice on water related matters where required. Senior Water Officers are required to proactively participate within a team environment to build a positive, outcomefocused culture.
This role will co-ordinate, lead and oversee key departmental services associated. with water regulation, including the provision of advice to clients, staff and key stakeholders relating to water products, natural resource projects, and legislative requirements including planning frameworks.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Lead the Water Licensing Team providing leadership and guidance while ensuring priorities and key timeframes are met.
• Undertake HR responsibilities including staff timesheets, leave requests and recruitment processes.
• Attend and contribute to internal meetings providing representation of your team in matters of relevance.
• Proactively manage resourcing and workloads within the team while ensuring staff health and welfare is considered.
• Investigate and report on water entitlement applications, respond to internal and external client enquiries, and provide advice on water resources regulated by the department.
• Provide advice to internal and external clients on the Water Act 2000 and relevant parts of the Planning Act 2016 and water planning instruments including water plans.
• Communicate and facilitate effectively with staff, management, clients, industry representatives and the general public in providing water management services.
• Prepare and review written reports, including assessment of applications, in a clear, concise and professional manner.
• Other duties as directed and required.
Role Requirements
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role however knowledge of the Water Act 2000 and experience in the use of WMS, ORC and Groundwater Database would be highly regarded.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
• A current ‘C” class driver’s licence is recommended.
