VOTRE ENVIRONNEMENT DE TRAVAIL
The recent development in Ukraine have led over 7.6 million refugees to flee over the borders from Ukraine and a further 6.3 million have been displaced within Ukraine. The estimated 17,7 million people that are stranded in Ukraine face shortages of basic needs such as water, food and medicine.
5,796,748 refugees have crossed the Polish border, 591,947 refugees have crossed the Moldavian border and 1,127,998 refugees the Romanian border.
This situation has led ACF France to open Country Offices, in Ukraine, Poland and Romania and ACF Spain in Moldova.
ACF has deployed a regional multi-sectorial strategy through direct implementation and partnership. Core activities are Food Security & Livelihood (canned and dry food distribution, hot meals, cash) and Mental Health & Care Practices (psychosocial support, PFA training, Baby Friendly Space, psychiatric referrals). In Ukraine strategy includes WASH activities (rehabilitation/repair of centralized water and sanitation networks as well as gas networks and boiler plants, minor repair of Collective/Transit Centers and hygiene kit distribution) as well as Health & Nutrition ones (primary health care structures support).
In Ukraine ACF intervenes in the East (Dnipro, Kharkiv and Zapporizhzhia in particular), the West (Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi) and is extending its coverage to the southern part of the country (Odessa and Mykolaiv).
This position is mainly for the Kharkiv ACF Field Office currently being scaled up. Depending on the timeline of recruitment, initially, some time may be spent managing WASH activities from ACF’s Dnipro Area Office. As part of the Kharkiv office, line management will fall under the Field Coordinator at that location. WASH activities will be coordinated with the Dnipro WASH PM and integrated as relevant with MHPSS, FSL and Health and Nutrition programmes.
VOTRE POSTE ET VOS RESPONSABILITÉS
At the local level, you federate the members of your team around the achievement of a common objective by ensuring the supervision, animation and reinforcement of their capacities. In addition, in accordance with ACF, international standards and national policies, you ensure the implementation of the project in compliance with established procedures and dedicated resources. You will participate in the coordination and representation of the WASH department with partners and other actors in your area of intervention. You also contribute to the analysis of the WASH context of your area of intervention and to the definition of the vision, positioning and strategy of the mission in the related sector.
The main activities will be related to :
- Suport to internally displaced population in terms of hygiene and sanitation;
- Emergency water treatment in affected areas (mobile water treatment plants);
- Water quality monitoring;
- Support to water utilities and waste water treatment.
VOTRE PROFIL
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience, including at least 1 humanitarian missions (ACF/Other NGO).
- Previous experience with ACF is an asset.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of project cycle management and working with non-English speakers.
- Exoerience of working with partners and arranging in-kind agreements etc is an asset.
- Oral and written fluency in English is mandatory.
