The State-wide Groundwater team is responsible for providing technical advice and support to internal stakeholders on all aspects of groundwater within the state of Queensland. Specific tasks may include involvement in Environmental Impact Study (EIS) Assessment for major projects, input to the development and review of Water Plans, advice on complex issues associated with groundwater licensing and bore log reviews.

The Statewide Groundwater team is responsible for providing technical advice and support to internal stakeholders on all aspects of groundwater within the state of Queensland. Specific tasks may include involvement in EIS Assessment for major projects, input to the development and review of Water Plans, advice on complex issues associated with groundwater licensing and bore log reviews.

Key Duties and Accountabilities

• Coordinate and support the operations of a team delivering technical advice on the assessment and management of groundwater in Queensland.

• Develop and maintain constructive working relationships and networks with clients, stakeholders, and project teams across Queensland for the delivery of groundwater technical advice.

• Prepare, communicate, consult and negotiate with internal and external clients in the delivery of groundwater advice on technical reports, workflows, documentation and memos, and develop options and approaches for the resolution of contentious issues.

• Provide timely and accurate advice on project actions, and for the preparation of complex briefs, reports and other correspondence related to groundwater management and use.

• Oversight team outputs, including reports and correspondence to ensure quality outcomes, sound conclusions and consistent application of groundwater technical advice to water management procedures, policy and legislation.

• Review water policy and planning proposals, identify risks and provide recommendations to support the implementation of business priorities with particular emphasis on groundwater management and use across Queensland.

• Represent the department in a technical capacity at a range of community and water forums.

• Other duties as directed and required.
