WHO WE ARE

The mission of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is to conserve the lands and waters upon which all life depends. As a science-based organization, we develop innovative, on-the-ground solutions to the world’s toughest environmental challenges so that people and nature can thrive. Our work is guided by our values, which include a commitment to diversity and respect for people, communities, and cultures. From a rewarding mission to career development and flexible schedules, there are many reasons to love life #insideTNC. Want to know more? Check out our TNC Talent playlist on YouTube   to hear stories from staff or visit  Glassdoor.

One of TNC’s primary goals is to cultivate an inclusive work environment so that employees around the globe have a sense of belonging and feel that their unique contributions are valued. We know we’ll only achieve our mission by hiring and engaging a diverse staff that reflects the communities in which we work. Recognizing that people bring talent and skills that have been developed outside the scope of a job, we take a holistic approach to recruitment that considers life experience in addition to the professional requirements listed in our postings. Please apply – we’d love to hear from you. To quote a popular saying at TNC, “you’ll join for the mission, and you’ll stay for the people.”

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has shown that nature-based solutions (NbS)—sustainably managing, restoring and protecting forests and other lands—can provide up to a third of the solution to climate change by 2030. NbS can also provide a range of other benefits, such as protecting biodiversity, improving watershed function, increasing resilience, and supporting sustainable livelihoods. As public concern about climate change drives corporate and other net-zero commitments, interest in carbon markets is growing exponentially, and in particular how such markets can support the scaling of NbS. Around the world, we are responding directly to dozens of leading companies, all of whom are committed to reaching their net-zero commitments and require voluntary and compliance carbon market participation to achieve their commitments.

Southeast Asia is facing unprecedented demand for carbon abatement and hence, an unparalleled opportunity to access and direct climate finance to NbS that deliver not only climate outcomes, but outcomes for biodiversity and people as well. In Asia Pacific, TNC has joined with 7 other NGOs to form the Southeast Asia Climate and Nature-based Solution (SCeNe) Coalition* in recognition of the scale of action required, the time-bound opportunity for impact and the risks to people and nature if we do not act collaboratively to speed up and scale up design and implementation of high-integrity and high-quality NbS. The extensive experience of these environmental NGOs in the development and execution of NbS offers a powerful, shared platform to inform and influence this rapidly growing sector. In the first three years, the Coalition will focus on three inter-connected workstreams that together will scale NbS in the region: i) define the opportunities of where ‘triple benefit’ NbS investment should be made; ii) showcase high-integrity projects to inspire others; and iii) support national and local organizations to access carbon finance and secure funds for conservation.
The Governance of the Coalition includes a Steering Committee comprised of the Asia-based leaders of the member organizations, with a rotating Chair. The Steering Committee has overall responsibility for the strategy, oversight, fundraising and delivery of the Coalition aims. Each workstream is led by a member organization (i.e. Workstream Manager) with all members contributing time and expertise through Expert Teams. The NbS Coalition Manager will be the first Secretariat position to be hired with the aim to accelerate the pace and scale of the Coalition’s impact, including building a small Secretariat team to be hosted by TNC, subject to the successful execution and resourcing of the Coalition’s full body of work.

* Birdlife International, Conservation International, IDH – The Sustainable Trade Initiative, Mandai Nature, The Nature Conservancy, Wildlife Conservation Society, Worldwide Fund for Nature Singapore (WWF Singapore) and Yayasan Institut Sumber Daya Dunia (WRI Indonesia).

The NbS Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for management of priority partnerships to advance nature-based solutions (NbS) for climate across Asia Pacific. This includes day-to-day management of the SCeNe Coalition across all workstreams, including administrative and programmatic functions. The NbS Partnerships Coordinator works directly with Coalition member organizations, TNC country and global teams and other partners to drive timely and high-quality execution of agreed work plans and deliverables and establish the SCeNe Coalition and TNC as a valued and trusted partner.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

The NbS Partnerships Coordinator supports TNC’s Climate Partnerships Director in Asia Pacific, the NbS Partnerships Senior Manager (also being recruited), Coalition member organizations and BUs in Southeast Asia by leading the successful delivery of the SCeNe Coalition, with a focus on coordinating and actioning the work and decisions of the Steering Committee, overseeing the delivery of the Coalition’s workstreams and managing reporting and relationships with existing supporters (working closely with workstream leads in member organizations).
