As a division under Colorado State University’s (CSU) Office of Engagement and Extension (OEE), the Center aims to connect all water expertise in Colorado’s higher education system with research and education needs of the state’s water managers and users. The CoWC leads interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach activities to address complex and evolving water-related challenges in Colorado and beyond. The Center fosters collaboration among stakeholders, synthesizes objective water knowledge to inform decision-making, and inspires the next generation of water leaders. Position SummaryThe Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Program Manager serves in a leadership position with the Colorado Water Center (CoWC), which fulfills an important role in higher education throughout Colorado and beyond. In this capacity, the Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Programs Manager assists in leading and ensuring execution of CoWC’s outreach, research and education programs, communications, and operations focused on advancing the Center’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) mission and goals.The Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Program Manager defines and implements water related initiatives in concert with CoWC’s Director and Associate Director. The Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Program Manager works with the Center’s senior research scientists, CSU Extension water specialists, and water experts across the CSU System to advance JEDI knowledge and solutions to priority water challenges. They are responsible for bringing together interdisciplinary teams to successfully compete for external grant funding. The Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Program Manager has supervisory responsibility for the unit’s extension, research, and communication programs.The primary office location is in Fort Collins, CO. While this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, the individual is expected to maintain a balance establishing a presence in the primary office, to effectively carry out the duties of the position. Work schedule will vary but some nights and weekends will be required.
Required Job QualificationsMasters Degree in a relevant Water Resources or Environmental Science Discipline.A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience working in a multi/inter disciplinary environment on water-related research, education, and outreach initiatives.A minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.Experience cultivating a culture of diversity and inclusionExperience advocating for water equity and justiceExperience building strategic and programmatic partnerships with diverse coalitions and networks.Demonstrated understanding of Colorado and Western U.S. water systems, complex issues, and key stakeholders.Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with multiple entities leading the identification, development, and execution of water-related projects and programs. Experience with bringing together diverse water stakeholders and perspectivesWilling and able to travel throughout Colorado, U.S., and internationally.Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.Commitment to diversity and inclusion, ability to work effectively with all constituencies in a diverse institution
Preferred Job QualificationsCommitment to serving the state’s water community and ability to adapt to evolving needs and priorities.Experience writing grant proposals that have led to successful acquisition of externally sponsored awards.Experience with budget management/forecasting.Knowledge of the Land-Grant Institution system.
