Offer Description
The post-doctoral researcher will carry out original research on the role of water as resource in the pursuit of health and well-being, primarily (but not exclusively) in the Medici correspondence (“Mediceo del Principato”) during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, using both archival and digitised resources.
The “Mediceo del Principato is the epistolary collection of the Tuscan Grand Dukes (1537-1743), consisting of over 4 million letters kept in the State Archives of Florence, which study is promoted by the Medici Archive Project, where part of the activities of the post-doc will take place.
In particular, the research will focus on bathing practices, both domestic and thermal.
