This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the Office of the Executive Director – North Region at the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water. The Water Resource Management group is focused on driving growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources and developing our regions.
As Principal Advisor , North Region you will support the Executive Director to coordinate activities and operations for the region, playing a lead role in delivering key reform programs across the agency. You will coordinate delivery of solutions for the sustainable management of water resources, balancing environmental, social, cultural and economic objectives and values. You will also have the drive and experience to partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver key projects on behalf of the Executive Director.

About us
The Water Resource Management group at the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water leads the management of water resources in Queensland to achieve sustainability and public safety outcomes. The North Region team delivers on this strategic objective through the following functions:
• Water planning and science activities for water plans
• Managing water and riverine authorisations and rights
• Water monitoring and compliance
• Delivering on responsibilities in the Lake Eyre Basin.
The Principal Advisor’s specific responsibilities include:
• Building and sustaining strong partnerships across Government and through the department.
• Developing a high-level understanding of portfolio issues, priorities and policies to ensure that planning and delivery of activities are aligned to the Government and department’s strategic direction.
• Preparing high quality submissions, reports, presentations, speeches, briefing papers and internal communications on behalf of the Executive Director.
• Overseeing reporting functions to meet agency and whole of government requirements and performing the secretariat functions for the committees and meetings chaired by the Executive Director.
• Working productively with stakeholders to establish business improvements and develop policies and procedures to ensure adherence to work standards and practices.
• Other duties as directed and required.
