About Us
Water is the world’s most regenerative source. Water is life. Water is a fundamental human right, it’s every citizen’s dignity. Yet, as humanity, we are failing to give it the care and attention it deserves. We exist for the Water Rockstars, those who are making it happen, who fight the good fight and pull others into the journey. Interest is more than half the battle. Without it, we cannot create the change we want to see. That’s why we provide insider content on all things water. A house for the free flow of ideas, giving an unmatched look at water practices worldwide. Our mission at WSP is to stir desire, to captivate and enchant — to make water cool. Then armed with the answers for impact.
About the Position
Water Science Policy is young and ambitious, and a dynamic project that is entirely led by young professionals. We are looking for Volunteer Editors who are excited to join a young and global team and motivated to contribute to an organisation that is still in the earliest stages. Are you a professional writer, someone studying journalism or a water professional with great writing skills and an eye for detail? Are you willing to contribute to the cause of making the water content on the platform accessible to a truly global audience? You are in the right place!
Key Responsibilities
Editors are critical members of our team. You will be part of an existing pool of volunteer editors and commit to copy-editing anything from 1-4 submissions (~1000 words each) per month.
What we are looking for: Requirements
Initiative, passion and enthusiasm.
Native or near-native (C2) level of English.
Strong writing skills.
A talent for proofreading, and improving structure and style.
The ability to give constructive feedback.
Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
Dependable, well-organised, and able to work independently.
(Note that you do NOT have to have an advanced university degree for this position. As long as you are a strong editor and communicator and passionate about water, do consider applying).
Additional Assets
Experience with copy editing and newspapers.
Proficiency in other languages.
Experience working in an international team.
Experience or strong interest in water science (& policy), international climate and/or environmental issues.
The willingness to produce articles yourself that are then published via WSP.
Access to networks in their community and/or region, and/or has demonstrated skills in building a network.
Any additional C2 language skills.
Compensation
Water Science Policy is non-profit and is only able to cover basic operational costs for established team members. This is a part-time position on a voluntary basis. We are working hard to change this.
Work Schedule: 2-4 hours/week, whenever and wherever you can accommodate it!
Location: This is a remote position; applicants must have access to a personal computer.
Benefits:
Involvement in a growing and dynamic network in the international water science community.
Opportunity for autonomy and creativity: freedom to help shape our growth as key members of the team.
Potential for extension and further involvement in the organisation in the future.
Access to training opportunities in areas including media and communications, storytelling, and policy.
