Job Description

Temporary Position:

Part Time

Water Resource Analysis maintains, develops, and conducts studies using Denver Water’s long-range planning model, which includes reservoirs, diversions, rivers, and other operations in both the Colorado and South Platte River Basins. The primary role of this position will be to assist in hydrologic data development, including locating and researching data sources and operational information, filling missing data gaps using standard imputation techniques, and statistical assessments of the reasonableness of datasets.

Skills/Competencies

  • Analytical thinking
  • Data analysis and interpretation, including statistics
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Access
  • Familiarity with major hydrologic data sources including CDSS, Hydrobase, USGS, and Bureau of Reclamation Sources. Familiarity with TSTool to access and manipulate hydrologic data.
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Technical writing and technical document synthesis
  • Quality control and quality assurance
  • Research skills and ability to differentiate between credible and non-credible sources.

Hiring Criteria:

The position may be a paid position and/or for school credit. However, the candidate must currently be a student attending college/university or must have graduated in the last six (6) months.

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Hydrology, Geohydrology, Watershed Science, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • Graduate Student in Engineering, Hydrology, Geohydrology, Watershed Science, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • Must complete a thorough background check which includes, education, work experience,  and criminal background.

During the Summer Intern Program, there are THREE (3) REQUIRED ATTENDANCE EVENTS. All interns must participate.

Intern positions do not come with any benefits other than holiday pay (if worked for more than 20 days prior to the holiday).
