Post Doc researcher position in the field of freshwater ecology and conservation

We are looking for a freshwater ecologist postdoctoral researcher who is interested in designing and conducting high quality research in the field of ecology and conservation of freshwater ecosystems.
POSITION DETAILS
Duration: 2 years (with a tenure-track option)
Probation period: 3 months
Target start date: spring 2022 (negotiable)
Salary: we offer a competitive salary in local standards from 500,000 HUF/month to 750,000 HUF/month (≈ £1100 to £1600 GBP; ≈ $1300 to $2000 USD) commensurate with the applicant’s experience, skills and publication records.
The successful candidate should conduct pure research and will be encouraged to develop his/her own research agenda compatible with the mission of the Institute. The researcher can either use our fish data base and long term monitoring data sets to provide high quality publications on the effects of anthropogenic activities and/or biological invasions on the diversity and community organization of fish communities and/or develop own research project(s) in the field of fish ecology and conservation. For field studies a variety of fishing devices are provided while for experimental work aquaria with different sizes are available in the laboratory of the institute. Conducting meta-analyses or writing systematic reviews which are related to the structure, functioning and conservation of freshwater ecosystems is also an option, as well as continental scale studies using large scale data bases. DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ADVANTAGES
- PhD or higher postdoctoral experiences in ecology, limnology, environmental modelling, conservation ecology, invasion ecology or related fields.
- Proven ability to pursue scientifically demanding questions, high motivation and a vision for creative research.
- Data treatment and analyses in R statistical environment is a prerequisite.
- Knowledge of GIS is an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Promising publication record commensurate with the career stage.
- Good knowledge of aquatic ecosystem patterns and processes.
