The Hydrogeologist provides scientific, technical and modelling expertise and leadership to support the development of provincial groundwater science, policy and standards for the stewardship of groundwater across the natural resource sector in British Columbia.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirement as outlined below:
 

  • Master’s degree in Groundwater Hydrology or Hydrogeology and 3 years related work experience with specialized training in quantitative groundwater hydrology; or a bachelor’s degree in Groundwater Hydrology or Hydrogeology and 5 years related work experience with specialized training in quantitative groundwater hydrology.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists BC as a P.Eng., P.Geo. or limited licensee.
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Coordinating and participating in interdisciplinary groundwater projects;
    • Developing analytical tools and conducting groundwater studies;
    • Analysing and interpreting hydrogeological data and writing technical reports;
    • Leading technical committees and working groups;
    • Working cooperatively with other levels of government or agencies, and the public;
    • Ability to communicate technical and complex groundwater policies to technical and non-technical audiences via written and oral communications; and
    • Supervising contractors and technicians.
  • Familiarity and experience working in a regulatory framework.

Professional Designation: YES – a Professional Engineer/Geoscientist with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to obtain registration in BC from a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction. Applicants must confirm their eligibility with the appropriate BC association (ABCFPBCIAEGBC). Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
