Watershed Planner

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (with the potential of some flexibility)
Start Date: January 2023

POSITION DETAILS:
The Watershed Planner is responsible for municipal planning input and review related to the Authority’s planning program and for maintaining excellent relationships with municipalities and other stakeholders. This position reports to the Managing Director,
Approvals.
WHAT YOU OFFER:
- University/college graduate in planning, environmental science, environmental studies, natural resources management or related discipline.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience; municipal and environmental planning experience considered an asset.
- Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (or working toward designation) is an asset.
- Knowledge of basic water resources engineering, aquatic biology, water quality, and water conservation issues.
- Knowledge of flood plains, erosion hazards, and wetlands.
- Excellent report writing skills, project management skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret maps and drawings.
- Experience as a Risk Management Inspector or Official is a significant asset.
- Knowledge in the development process, Planning Act, Conservation Authorities Act, Municipal Act, OLTA, Clean Water Act, Building Code Act, Drainage Act including planning principles and practices and local Municipal processes.
- Enthusiasm, determination, and the ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS software.
- Bilingual (English and French) is a significant asset.
- Valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License.

LOCATION:
The SNC office is in a rural location in Finch, Ontario, southeast of Ottawa. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation.
