Job Description

The Desert Research Institute, Division of Hydrologic Sciences, in Las Vegas Nevada, is seeking a full-time program specialist to handle a variety of administrative, and project duties under general supervision to support the

Technical Research, Engineering, and Development Services (TREDS) program.  Duties include coordinating and scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, maintaining databases, dictation of meetings and various administrative duties. This position will also support the Project Control Manager in compiling and delivering monthly project budget and schedule reports and supporting development of project task plans.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of full-time progressively related experience;
    OR Associates degree
  • Intermediate computer skills with MS Office Excel, Teams, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, departments, and other campus personnel
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and commitment to meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong degree of accuracy and reliability as well as sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field
  • Experience working in a research, non-profit, or university setting with familiarity of grants/contracts.
  • Experience with database software
  • Experience with Workday (NSHE financial system)

Conditions of Employment

  • US Citizenship is required due to project funding
  • Employment is contingent upon a successful completion of a background check
  • This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, such as moving or lifting objects up to 30 lbs., and occasional stooping, bending and kneeling to support office, hosted events and meetings

Compensation Grade/Benefits

This is a DRI Technologist position Grade 29 position with a minimum starting base salary of $40,000.  Candidates will be hired at the level that is comparable to their experience, skills, and abilities.

DRI offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance (Flexible spending and health savings account options available); PERS 15.5% retirement match, 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of sick leave accrued per month, 11 paid holidays, and educational benefits for employee and dependents. Additionally, there is no state income tax or social security deduction. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
