Offer Description
The riparian zone of fluvial systems represents a natural environment able to offer a high number of ecosystem services from which the environment and society can benefit, including the provision of habitats for animal and plant species. The expected effects of climate change constitute a risk factor for the riparian vegetation. These effects are attributable both to the
expected variations in the flow rate (removal of
vegetation during extreme events, reduced availability of water in dry periods) and to the increase in temperatures. In the framework of the LIFE project CLIMAXPo, the research addresses the assessment, planning, resilience, and sustainable management of water storage capacity of regulated alpine lakes and artificial reservoirs and the sustainable management of sediment, which have a direct impact on environmental protection need.
