The Opportunity: Principal  Water Consultant

Our water business continues to grow in response to market demand. We have a wide and growing portfolio of work delivering strategic advice through to detailed design to our water clients. We support projects as trusted advisor to clients globally which include government; private infrastructure asset owners and operators; regulatory and policy organisations; and investment institutions. Recent clients include Environment Agency, Welsh Water, Yorkshire Water, Wessex Water, Northern Ireland Water, Bristol City Council, Thames Water, Rockefeller Foundation and other international NGOs. We are looking for a Principal Water Consultant to join our dynamic and growing team who is excited by the opportunity to drive innovation, delivering excellence for our clients, influencing the sector both nationally and internationally through our projects, and working in collaborative, diverse teams.

Is this role right for you?

We have a new opportunity for a dynamic and committed Principal Water Consultant with experience of water policy, strategy and water resources, to join our engaging and collaborative team. The primary focus of the role is to support our clients water strategy, policy formulation and water resources planning. A key component is Development of strategies and plans, business/investment cases, risk and resilience approaches and asset management as well as analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data. As a client orientated team, preparing and delivering compelling client- and public- facing reports and presentations, will be key to successful collaboration.

We work in multi-disciplinary and diverse teams, supporting the development of junior members of the team and managing the delivery and output of projects, including project planning, programming, quality assurance and commercial management. We encourage our people to demonstrate drive and motivation, a willingness to learn, and a desire to deliver an excellent service to our clients. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a deep combination of industry skills and broad range of understanding, learning through a combination of project work and training, as they progress towards promotion to roles with overall responsibility for project delivery. Some examples of the required skills are listed below.

  • Demonstrable Policy formulation, Water Management and Asset Management experience with the Infrastructure environment.
  • Track-record of adopting digital technologies into your previous work.
  • Industry in delivering Policy and Asset Planning including Water Resources Planning; Assurance and Regulation.
  • Knowledge of the key issues and opportunities facing infrastructure in the UK.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, economics, geography, water management, water security or related discipline. Ideally with a focus on Water Policy.
  • Professionally qualified or working towards qualification in a relevant professional institution, for example, CIWEM or ICE.
