Posting Information | This position is on site at our Cullowhee campus. The Research Associate will assist with data and geospatial analysis for various research projects throughout the Upper Little Tennessee River basin. Associate will analyze and interpret quantitative data with various statistical programs, such as Excel and R. Geospatial analyses will be conducted using ArcGIS Pro and programming software. Remote work and/or field work possible with the right candidate. |
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position | This position requires an understanding of watershed management best practices, geospatial and statistical analyses, graphing and mapping methods, and technical writing procedures. |
Minimum Qualifications | Excellent oral and written communicationAbility to maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic as part of a teamEnsure data integrity by maintaining accurate and consistent methodsAbility to work and solve problems independentlyProficient with data management, statistical software, and geospatial analyses.Substantial coursework or degree in Natural Resource Conservation and Management or related field. |
Preferred Qualifications | Familiarity or willingness to learn to process lidar and other remotely sensed data.Advanced statistical and geospatial analytical skills.Current student or recent graduate of WCU or UNC system with Bachelor’s in applicable sciences. |
