Solidaridad Regional Expertise Centre (SREC) is registered not for profit trust with its main office located in the New Delhi. The SREC participates in the network of Solidaridad in Asia and focuses on eliminating poverty in all forms. It is a major international driver of sustainable and fair production and consumption practices in different agri-food sectors like Coffee, Tea, Cocoa, Fruit & Vegetables, Cotton, Textiles, Gold & Industrial Minerals, Soy, Palm Oil, Sugarcane, Livestock/ Leather, Dairy and Aquaculture including leather.
It seeks to improve the resilience of vulnerable population to social, environmental and economic shocks. We cover several other SDGs in our result chain that all at the end contributes to the SDG-1. The smallholder farmers, workers (with a focus on women) and the consumers are our main beneficiaries. SREC works from around 10 states in India with close to 250 experts operating from different offices.

Project Brief: Solidaridad is currently implementing a project ‘Pollution Prevention and Efficient water use in the Kanpur-Unnao Leather Cluster’, funded by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and is supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India. The project focuses on good water stewardship of the tanneries to reduce the risk and impact on the river water by effectively reducing the consumption of water and the volume of effluents discharged into the river body. This is in tandem with the objectives of rejuvenation of River Ganga by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Government of India and the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the governments of Uttar Pradesh and the Netherlands. In Kanpur, the project was inaugurated in November 2017 and work is being carried out with the SME’s of Kanpur and Unnao leather cluster in the areas of pollution alleviation”.
We are in the process of recruitment of qualified and competent candidate to support the above programme in the position of Programme Associate, reporting to the Programme Manager.
The key responsibilities of the Programme Associate would include:
• Efficient management of implementation of the project activities in collaboration supervisor and stakeholders at the field level
• Support Programme Manager & team on Leather in smooth execution of ongoing Water Project in Kanpur.
• Coordinate routine Programme communication aspects.
• Conceptual articulation and Proposals Development
• Regular Interface with Kanpur based Ganga Landscape team, project consultant and PME department
• Regular interface with other important stakeholders related to Programme.
• Provide technical inputs especially on water resource management at project sites.
• On field support to project team as per the requirement.
• Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly progress report and assist in documentation pertaining to project.
• Assist in documentation, reports pertaining to programmes
• Updating Innovative ideas emerging during implementation of the activities.
Any other task assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Post-graduate degree in Agricultural Economics/ Sustainable Development studies, Social Sciences or any related subject.
• At least 1-3 years work experience- in agricultural/MSME value chains
Skills
• Good communication and Written skills in English. Fluent in Hindi and English.
• Ability to perceive and translate the ideas of implementation
• Should be straight forward and have integrity.

• Able to work with efficiency and with precision
• Good Organizational and Administrative abilities
• Good computer skills – use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.

• Flexibility – able to handle changing conditions and adapt to them rapidly.
