Engineer, Senior
Key Role:
Support federal agencies in protecting critical infrastructure, including wastewater and drinking water facilities through water system planning, design and operation, control systems, monitoring systems, physical security, cybersecurity, and other engineering disciplines. Provide engineering and technology expertise to federal agencies or to non-federal third parties, provided such support is provided in the form of studies or investigations in accordance with CWA 104(b)(4) or SDWA 1442, or in providing management assistance under SDWA 1459A to support activities to review, assess, and improve water sector security and resilience. Provide technical support to federal agencies and water sector partners in system engineering, sampling and analysis, online water quality monitoring, customer complaint surveillance, physical security monitoring, advanced metering infrastructure, public health surveillance, water resources modeling, information management, anomaly detection, and water contamination response planning in accordance with CWA 104(b)(4) and SDWA 1442 or SDWA 1459A, as applicable. Support field evaluations, data collection and review, including statistical assessment, and bench and pilot-scale evaluations to further elucidate process capabilities and engineering parameters. Support treatability testing to verify compatibility of technology with the contaminant or waste type, technology demonstrations, document and videotape preparation, and technology transfer activities.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in environmental or civil engineering, including water and wastewater systems design and operation and water resource management
- Experience in working with federal government environmental protection and/or natural resource programs
- Experience with relevant federal statutes, including Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA), Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL)), Presidential Orders, and policies affecting water and wastewater infrastructure and resources
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
Additional Qualifications:
- Possession of excellent analysis, client support, and presentation skills
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Design and Operation preferred
