ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Global Environment & Technology Foundation seeks an experienced water access, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) development professional as a Local Project Coordinator liaison for GETF (20 hours/week).

The purpose of the GETF Local Project Coordinator position is to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of assigned Conservation and/or Reforestation project(s) for water replenishment in five countries of the south region of Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay).

The Local Project Coordinator be responsible for the planning, support, monitoring, and assessment of several conservation, reforestation and watershed/basin protection projects in these countries.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, demonstrated conservation/reforestation projects experience, a well-developed professional network, the ability to plan, coordinate, track and support simultaneous projects/initiatives in multiple countries, and a collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills within different teams and stakeholders for successful implementation of projects, which is due to finish at the end of December 2022.

Regarding specific and technical knowledge required, successful candidates must demonstrate expertise in conservation and reforestation projects, watershed mapping, water source vulnerability assessments, and hydrologic/hydrogeologic modeling of watersheds and groundwater basins.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The GETF Local Project Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and successful implementation of water replenishment environmental projects, including support in the following areas:

  • Overall project management and coordination in close consultation with key local and global partners, including The Coca-Cola Foundation, Coca-Cola bottling partners, GETF, and other stakeholders involved in the projects;
  • Ensuring highest programmatic technical quality;
  • Supporting and advising on program implementation;
  • Drafting internal and external reports, communications materials, and terms of reference and promoting the exchange of best practices and innovative approaches;
  • Providing administrative support through substantive and financial follow-up and reporting;
  • Coordinating activities with relevant implementing partners and other local stakeholders
  • Meeting with the sponsor teams and carrying out field visits as necessary to remain up to date with progress of activities;
  • Communicating effectively with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including partners and donors; liaising between colleagues at GETF, donors, and local teams to coordinate and monitor successful project delivery in a timely manner; and
  • Delivering other relevant project-related support as requested by GETF.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following abilities:

  • Five years of project coordination experience on conservation, reforestation and watershed health-related projects in any of the listed countries (five or more years with demonstrated track record of success in project management is a plus).
  • Experience working with local partners in any of the five mentioned countries highly desired.
  • Demonstrated success implementing, managing, and closing conservation projects; knowledge and training in natural resource management (especially forestry) a plus.
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed with established projects; capacity to rapidly identify stakes and potential difficulties, adaptability, solution-oriented approach, etc.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines, and efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities under tight time constraints and in a highly organized manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, research and analytical skills in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
  • Engaging and enthusiastic in working with leaders and staff; ability to build and cultivate relationships with a broad range of local leaders, stakeholders, and community contacts.
  • This position has a relatively high level of autonomy. Successful candidates must demonstrate solid capabilities in working both independently and collaboratively; supervisory experience a plus.
