The Position

The Coordinator, IWF Indigenous Scholars Program will provide support to the Institute for Water Futures ‘Indigenous Scholars Program Advisory Committee’ towards achieving our key goals of attracting, retaining and supporting Indigenous Scholars with particular interests in water. The Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment of new students, and empowering new and existing students to take control of their studies and future careers. They will be a first point of contact to assist students navigate the ANU environment and with course selection and enrolment processes and will assist honours and postgraduate research students to connect with culturally appropriate supervisors. They will also provide pastoral care, sensitively and confidentially assisting students to adjust to tertiary study and on-campus life, providing advice for achieving a good life/work balance and managing cultural obligations.

The Person

The successful candidate will have exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills and be passionate about assisting Indigenous Scholars to enter and successfully complete tertiary study. They will have the ability to establish and develop strong connections with Indigenous communities. This position would suit a current or recently graduated ANU Indigenous Student.

The IWF mission is to support sustainable water futures and to identify transformative, innovative and robust strategies to address the water challenges of today and tomorrow.  The IWF brings together researchers in futures focused water related positions from across sciences, social sciences, humanities and public policy within the ANU and has established research partnerships with many state and federal water agencies. The IWF is committed to growing Indigenous participation and leadership in National water management.
