Definition and experimentation of a methodology for the economic assessment of environmental and water resources costs via EURAXESS

Politecnico di Bari

Italy 🇮🇹

The limited availability of sources from which to draw water destined for the civil, industrial and agricultural sectors within the Apulian territory has led to the creation of an infrastructural system aimed at supplying water from the neighboring regions for satisfying the needs of the territory. Among the possible impacts on the territory of such a system there may be both a remodulation of the watercourse regime and possible reductions and/or alterations of
the functionality of ecosystems, as well as changes in the socio-economic conditions for the territorial context on which these infrastructures are located. Goal of this research is the definition of a methodology for the economic evaluation of the environmental costs and of the water resource that allows to integrate the current tariff system through the economic evaluation of the environmental, economic and social effects
