Postdoctoral Research Associate
The University of Mississippi's National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with strong and demonstrated experience in studying free surface flows, sediment transport, morphologic changes, and soil erosion in rivers, lakes, and watersheds using numerical simulation models. The successful candidate should have good communication skills and will be involved in developing, improving, modifying, and maintaining numerical models; publishing research papers independently; and working under supervision and cooperating closely with other members in the research group. Excellent working and living environment, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities are provided.
This position requires a PhD degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resource Engineering or Computer Science, and a minimum of 3 years of research experience in the areas of hydraulics, hydrology, sediment transport, or water quality using numerical modeling. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in computer programming using Fortran, C, etc. Experience in development of GIS applications is also considered a plus. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and employee benefits. Long term employment is possible depending on performance and funding.
