Abt Associates seeks a qualified Analyst to support the Division of Health and Environment in our Rockville, MD, office. The candidate will support an interdisciplinary team conducting research in support of national-level environmental programs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Developing regulatory compliance cost estimates
Developing benefits estimates for changes in health or ecological outcomes that result from an environmental regulation
Generating tables, charts, and maps to communicate analysis results; preparing reports that document methodology and results
Using statistical software and database software to analyze specific industries, facilities, geographic regions, and populations
Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

Research experience (through employment or academic coursework) and skills in the following areas are essential
Economics and regulatory policy
Working with economic, environmental, and/or survey data
Proficiency using statistical software packages such as SAS
Ability to clearly communicate complex analytical methods in writing to a diverse audience
Strong attention to detail
The preferred candidate will have a Master's Degree in economics, resource/environmental economics, or a related discipline with graduate or undergraduate coursework in chemistry, biology, or biochemistry
Additional coursework in finance, mathematics, quantitative methods, public and/or environmental health, or the physical and/or environmental sciences is desirable
Excellent oral communication, writing, and analytical skills are essential
Research experience (through employment or academic coursework) and skills in the following areas are highly desirable
Research experience in environmental economics, health economics, and/or public economics
Research experience with sophisticated economic/environmental modeling and/or statistical/econometric analysis

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS (3 - 5) OR MA/MBA (Entry Level) years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
