OFFICE LOCATION: 601 57TH Street SE, Charleston, WV 25304 OR 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 OR 2031 Pleasant Valley Rd, Fairmont, WV 26554 – The employee will be assigned to the Division of Water and Waste Management, Environmental Enforcement Section. The employee’s assigned office will be located in either Fairmont, Fayetteville, or Kanawha City. The employee will be required to travel to the Kanawha City headquarters as needed. The employee will perform complex professional work independently at the full performance level with limited supervision. The employee will apply specialized skills while working in a supportive role to the Environmental Enforcement unit. On a statewide level, the employee will facilitate the resolution of enforcement actions issued under the following authorities: the Water Pollution Control Act, Underground Storage Tank Act, Aboveground Storage Tank Act, Solid Waste Management Act, Groundwater Protection Act, and Dam Control Act. The employee will process, track, and create documents and manage, gather, and report information associated with enforcement cases to ensure proper follow-up for the assigned caseload. The employee will perform other duties as required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to applicants with excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills. The employee must be able to communicate with individuals, inside and outside of the agency, while maintaining professional conduct at all times. The employee must demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with agency staff and personnel. Computer skills, especially those necessary for creating/editing documents and maintaining databases, are necessary. Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.
Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in paraprofessional or responsible clerical office support work in the acquisition, preservation and enhancement of environmental/natural resources.Substitution: Any combination of experience as described above and successful completion of college course work from a regionally accredited four-year college or university towards a major in chemistry, physics, geography, biology, economics, engineering, environmental studies, natural science, or archaeology may be substituted through an established formula on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
