The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is recruiting two PhD level graduate students to join the Biological Systems Engineering Department in January 2017. One project includes the improvement of the auto-irrigation routine in the SWAT model and the application of the SWAT-MODFLOW model to calculate the cumulative effect of improved irrigation practices at the watershed scale. The other project will evaluate the encroachment of the Eastern Redcedar in the Nebraska Sandhills and its effect on the surface water discharge and groundwater recharge.
Funding is available for three years with a stipend of $21,000 per year for each position. Experience with SWAT and/or MODFLOW is required. Applications are due by September 15th, 2016.
