SNV Nepal is seeking for International GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) Report Analyst for Paani Program.
The Paani Program – is a 5 year, $25 million Project in Nepal. Water is the single most important natural resource underpinning Nepal’s economy and livelihoods. The sustainable management of water resources in Nepal depends on addressing climate change and protecting healthy, biodiverse ecosystems. Paani aims to enhance Nepal’s ability to manage water resources for multiple uses and users through climate change adaptation and the conservation of freshwater biodiversity. Paani employs an integrated, whole-of-basin approach with activities under four “intermediate result” (IR) areas at the watershed, basin, and national scales to reduce threats to freshwater biodiversity and strengthen the resilience of targeted human and ecological communities in the Karnali, Mahakali, and Rapti river basins through improved water management.
This will be accomplished through 11 strategic approaches (1a Fisheries, 1b Local Water Management, 1c Roads and Mining, 1d Invasive Species, , 2a River Basin Planning, 2b Disaster Risk Reduction, 2c Sustainable Hydropower, 3a Policy, 3b Advocacy, 4a Research and 4b Learning Spaces) and four intermediate results (each with several sub-IRs), and supporting activities, as defined in Section C, Statement of Work (SOW) of the Paani Contract, Annual Work Plans and a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan. These documents, as revised periodically, provide the framework and overall guidance for all Paani team members.
The consultants will work closely with Paani and the other consultant to produce the expected deliverables of the task. The consultant will be expected to undertake the following tasks:
The specific activities includes –
Review provided scope of work, Paani program objectives and purpose of conducting GESI assessment and expected output
Review Paani Annual Work Plans, watershed profiles and health reports, and develop template to organize findings from the field to produce report
Support other consultant on the development of the tools
Review and analyze collected data and information together with the other consultant in order to create a common understanding to produce the GESI Assessment report Produce detailed final report on the GESI assessment
Developed study GESI assessment tools together with other consultant
Developed reporting template to organize findings from the field study
Written comments/queries/inputs on the analysis of the study data and information
Final detailed GESI assessment written report
A brief 2-pager report that summarizes the Consultant’s activities, accomplishments, and recommendations.
Advanced university degree in social science, gender studies, international development, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management
Demonstrated skills and experience in designing and practicing qualitative data collection research, analysing qualitative data and applying GESI analysis to data collected, with an emphasis on identifying barriers and opportunities for women and marginalized caste/ethnic groups
Demonstrated social science research related to natural resources management including water and biodiversity with GESI analytical work, highly preferred
Extensive working experience in international levels and experience with South Asia region would be an added value
Extensive and specific experience on analysing social science research (GESI Analysis report writing will be an added value)
Demonstrated strong ability to produce analytical report on social science research findings
At least 8 years work experience in related field with 5 years on GESI technical expertise
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
