The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is seeking experienced candidate for NAHB’s Environmental Policy Department.  Qualified candidates must be familiar analyzing environmental federal statutes, regulations, regulatory guidance documents and policies.  Functions performed by this position include the preparation of regulatory comment letters, compliance assistance materials for NAHB’s membership, and performing related regulatory advocacy work before federal and state environmental agencies.  Ideal candidate would possess knowledge of the Clean Water Act’s Section 404 federal wetlands permitting program and regulations.  The selected candidate, in addition to handling federal wetland regulatory issues on behalf of NAHB, would also be expected to manage additional environmental regulatory topics as assigned.

Qualified individuals will have a strong knowledge of the federal rulemaking process and knowledge of the legislative processes; excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills.  Candidate must be able to work independently and be able to manage multiple projects and meet simultaneous deadlines.

A master’s degree or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Environmental Law, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, or comparable experience and education is required. In addition, a minimum of three years of environmental policy experience in a federal, state or local regulatory agency, or an equivalent work experience in private sector position is required.
