Position Description:Postdoctoral Research Scholar – Technology Development for Drinking Water Treatment

IIHR – Hydroscience & Engineering ( and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Iowa ( seek a highly motivated postdoctoral research scholar to join Dr. David Cwiertny’s research group ( The initial appointment is full-time for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of continued funding. Research will be related to the fabrication of electrospun membranes, their integration into point of use (POU) drinking water treatment devices, and performance testing of the resulting POU device.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty, staff, and students of IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering (, a national and global leader in environmental and fluids-related research, education, and service. Education Requirement:Ph.D. in a relevant science or engineering field (e.g., Civil & Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, etc.) prior to starting this position is required.
Required Qualifications:Experience in environmental chemistry, water treatment, and material synthesis and characterization is required. 
Desirable Qualifications:Experience with nanotechnology, electrospinning, membranes and device fabrication is desirable.
