Data Analyst (Hydrology)

Taranaki Regional Council

Stratford, , NZ

Do you want to work for the present and future benefit of a prosperous and vibrant region with a high quality natural environment?  At Taranaki Regional Council, our mission is to responsibly and effectively promote the sustainable use, development and protection of Taranaki’s natural and physical resources, while representing and advocating Taranaki’s regional interests.

Continued growth in the range and amount of environmental data we collect and process means we are on the lookout for another Data Analyst to join our Hydrology team. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that environmental data collected across the Taranaki region meets required quality standards, and that it is collected in an effective and efficient way. You’ll also undertake processing and analysis of this data which will maximise its value to the Council and the public. As the range of environmental data we collect, the technology used to capture it, and methods used to communicate this information publically continues to evolve, so too will the scope of your role.

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification, and while some experience in the analysis and management of environmental data would be advantageous, we would also encourage anyone with an aptitude and interest in data management, data analysis, scripting and/or GIS to apply for this role. An interest in environmental data and/or hydrology, and a willingness to upskill in these areas, are essential.

A proven attention to detail and a commitment to quality management systems are key attributes you will bring to this position. A high degree of initiative and enthusiasm, and the ability to relate to a diverse workforce using effective communication and interpersonal skills, will ensure your success. Your work will be highly valued and directly contribute to the effective management of natural and physical resources within the Taranaki region.

Taranaki Regional Council offers an attractive workplace in a friendly and supportive environment.  More details, including the job description is available on our website  For any further information, please call Karen Smylie, HR Manager on (06) 765 7127.
