This position requires the candidate to work with upper management staff to help in the organization of conservation and policy management. The successful candidate will assist in designing long-term restoration, research, and conservation measures. The work will entail collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, First Nations, Salmon Roundtables, researchers, and others.
Specific job duties include, but may not be limited to:
·Pacific salmon and forest management policy planning.
·Developing long-term restoration and conservation targets and goals.
·Watershed planning and assessments.
·Collating information, documents, and presentations.
·Analyzing data and report writing.
·Attending and assisting in the facilitation of workshops.
Preference will be given to candidates residing in Tofino/Ucluelet. The option to work remotely can be discussed if access to the internet and virtual meetings is sufficient.
WORK DURATION: Full-time (30-40 hours/week) Monday to Friday starting August 2021 to August 2022. Potential to extend the one-year contract.
Compensation for this position will $30-$35/hr based on applicant experience. CWFS offers a comprehensive benefits package.
·Knowledge of the biology and ecology of Pacific salmon.
·Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
·Degree in a relevant field (biology, geography, environmental studies) or equivalent.
·Excellent data management skills including experience with all MS programs.
·Independent and self-motivated in order to meet deadlines.
·Takes initiative, committed, and has good judgement.
·Master’s degree in relevant field.
·Experience working with salmon or associated ecosystems.
·Experience working with multiple stakeholders.
·Experience facilitating workshops and in public speaking.
