Cloud to Street focuses on communities vulnerable to flooding that are left off status quo flood maps.
Our new platform combines satellite science, global algorithms and cloud computing to monitor
floods around the world and delivers risk information in a web dashboard at a fraction of the cost
and time of traditional modeling. Our mission is to ensure that all vulnerable communities have the
data they need to prepare and respond. In the next 5 years, our system will help provide new
protection for 10 million vulnerable people through insurance or other services. In 2018 we will release
the world’s largest database of flood maps – The Global Flood Map Database - in partnership with
Google Earth Outreach, the Dartmouth Flood Observatory. Founded by two women Yale, Cloud to
Street analytics and dashboards today are operating in India, Argentina, Senegal, Sudan, South
Sudan, Ethiopia and more.
We are looking for a part-time remote sensing analyst to aid algorithm development, quality control,
flood data production, and end-user engagement.
● Work with Cloud to Street remote sensing scientists to build high quality flood detection
● Provide feedback, and strength and weaknesses of existing algorithms
● Develop and execute methods to compare multi-satellite results to ground reference data
● Use Cloud to Street API to create flood data for end-users
● Technical support for clients and assist with final written reports, training materials
● Bachelor’s level courses in geosciences or related field with focus on remote sensing and
geospatial analysis
● Experience in image interpretation and remote sensing concepts
● Experience with coding and the capability to quickly learn, interpret, andand edit new code
● A commitment to justice, diversity, science and solidarity with vulnerable communities
● Preferred: Experience with Javascript and Python, Google Earth Engine
