Analyst (Drinking Water Information Systems)

The Cadmus Group LLC is seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in environmental planning, data science, environmental policy, water resources, or closely related fields. Our work primarily supports contracts with government clients in the areas of drinking water, water quality, and climate science.

Example projects may include data mapping; analyzing drinking water sample analytical results data; summarizing requirements for implementing drinking water regulations; developing standard operating procedures for primacy agency Safe Drinking Water Act implementation; working with laboratories to implement electronic reporting.

Database administration including routine maintenance, trouble-shooting, tuning, backup, etc.
Data mapping including extract, transform, and load tasks supporting data migration from legacy information systems
Data preparation, analyses and interpretation supporting environmental, water resources, and energy efficiency projects
Data extraction and organization from a variety of sources, including spreadsheets, databases, APIs, or web services
Oral and written communication including writing and editing case studies, presentations, and detailed and summary reports targeting technical and non-technical audiences
Support multiple projects and project managers with shifting project needs and deadlines
Logistical and administrative support for Cadmus project teams including client preparing and reviewing project reports
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills (written and oral)
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff and clients
Working knowledge of Business Analyst tasks and the ability help clients translate business needs into business requirements
Classwork or professional experience with large environmental data sets including sample analytical results, compliance monitoring data, water system infrastructure data, and Safe Drinking Water Act compliance data
Knowledge of one or more database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.), basic SQL, and Visual Basic for Applications
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Strong organizational abilities, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and ability to work independently with guidance
Applied experience with quantitative research activities in an academic or professional setting
One to three years’ work experience in relevant field
BS/BA in relevant field

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act, drinking water contaminants, and compliance determination or classwork or professional experience with EPA regulatory programs
Knowledge of EPA Applications that support the Safe Drinking Water Act including SDWIS/State, SDWIS/Fed, Enforcement Targeting Tool
Knowledge of EPA’s Central Data Exchange and Shared CROMERR Services
Knowledge of multiple programming languages or git version control a plus
Apache Tomcat Administration skills are helpful but not required
Oracle or SQL Server Database Administration skills
Experience in professional/consulting business environment or Master’s degree in relevant field helpful but not required
Proficiency in R or other data analysis programming such as Python

This position may be located in Waltham, MA or Arlington, VA. Some domestic travel may be required
