Postdoc in Integrated Watershed Management and Adaptation under Changing Climate via Indeed

The Watershed Science & Modelling Lab of the Earth and Atmospheric Department at the University of Alberta
is looking for an innovative and highly motivated candidate to develop models and conduct research on
adaptation to changing water in western Canada under uncertain future climate change. The successful candidate
will utilize established physical-based models for hydrology and water demand of agriculture, environment and
other water-use sectors in Alberta to study dynamic interactions of anthropogenic and natural systems and to
examine ‘integrated watershed management’ and adaptation options under uncertainty and facing climate change
impact with an interdisciplinary approach at river basin scale. The end goal is to provide scientifically credible
knowledge for formulating adaptation measures and informed decision making in an uncertain future in western
Canada. 

Qualifications and Specific Skills

o PhD degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management, Environmental Engineering and
Sciences, Agricultural Sciences or a closely related fields

o Track record of success in publishing peer reviewed papers in related scientific journals 
o Proficient knowledge and understanding of watershed hydrology with a specific focus on system analysis

and integrated water resources management.
o Proficient knowledge and understanding of principles and applications of system dynamic models,

hydrologic models, water allocation models and statistical methods for processing and analysis of
environmental data

o Proficient knowledge of scripting and programming for large database management 
o Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, prioritize, adapt to rapidly shifting priorities and

manage research projects from start to scientific publication
o Superior written, communication and interpersonal skills for effective and efficient development of

scientific publications and interaction with other researchers and public
