Senior Climate Change Hydro-Meteorologist Scientist

Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Climate Change Hydro-Meteorologist Scientist to join our Atmospheric Team on a full time basis based in our Mississauga office. As a key member of the Atmospheric Team, you will use your meteorological/climate change skills by working closely with management and other discipline teams.

An overview of your role will include: 

  • Overseeing the preparation of meteorological data sets for numerical dispersion and airshed modelling, climate change data analysis, both independently or as part of larger group
  • Project and proposal management, including (but not limited to) project finances, schedule, deliverables, and leading multi-disciplinary teams, as well as client/sub-contractor relationship management
  • Business development, including developing marketing plans, tools and initiatives with senior staff members and climate change team
  • Working under the direction of senior staff to complete business plan objectives at the local, regional and global scale
  • Potential for field work or training junior staff to execute field work, including meteorological instrumentation set-up and calibration, and ambient air quality monitoring (instrumentation set-up, calibration, data acquisition and analysis)


You will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Post-secondary degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) or demonstrated expertise in the field (over 15 years)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in applied meteorology, hydrology or climate change analysis
  • Strong statistical background, preferably with demonstrated experience in statistical methods for data infilling and trend analysis
  • Experience with Mesoscale meteorological models (e.g., WRF, MM5), preferably with demonstrated experience in developing boundary conditions, executing model runs and validating modelled results
  • Experience with climate change models and data portals, preferably with demonstrated experience in statistical and dynamical downscaling, experience driving mesoscale meteorological models for future climate conditions would be considered an asset
  • Must have strong computer skills including shell scripting skills (e.g., Matlab, R, Fortran, Python, Linux) and data management and processing skills related to model output (e.g., familiarity with NETCDF file formats)
