CPRW’s mission is to improve & maintain the ecological health of the Poudre River watershed through community collaboration. The VISTA member help to empower & engage landowners throughout our watershed. This project will empower landowners to understand their role in reducing negative impacts of catastrophic wildfires & floods. This project will engage communities that depend on the Poudre River’s water for drinking, recreating, agriculture, & other industrial activities. The VISTA will conduct outreach around wildfire related issues & river resiliency issues, organizing community meetings, tours & training opportunities. The VISTA member will help CPRW’s rapidly growing community engagement efforts. The goal for some of the community meetings is to host community planning opportunities, where local community members can provide input & their thoughts on restoration treatment design & needs in their neighborhoods. The member will be responsible for researching & writing program-related grants and organizing small fundraising events to help ensure that we can meet our communities’ expectations and follow through with project implementation. The VISTA will help CPRW coordinate its participation in externally organized community events The VISTA will play a critical role in helping CPRW develop better internal processes for our grant administration/tracking, regular stakeholder meeting logistics, & our internal administrative filing and basic bookkeeping. This will be a challenging & fun opportunity for someone who loves working with people, protecting the environment, enjoys community organizing, & has strong verbal & written communication skills. We are offering multiple avenues for leadership & skill development. We also regularly work with local, state, & federal agencies and non-profits, offering the VISTA excellent professional networking opportunities. No previous knowledge about forests, wildfires, or rivers is necessary.
