We are looking for an experienced Roving Senior Programme manager who has the passion and skill to help us deliver on our ambitious strategy through a growing portfolio of large grant funded projects.
This is an exciting and dynamic time in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) development sector. For the first time we believe that it is possible that by 2030 we can achieve universal access to these basic and essential services that are a human right, and provide dignity and opportunity to contribute to lifting people out of poverty. WaterAid has a bold strategy to catalyse and bring about necessary transformational changes in the countries where we work, driving progress through working across sectors, building the strength of key institutions at national and local levels to deliver these services sustainably.
This role will lead on and act as senior project manager for the set-up and inception periods of large, complex or strategic projects across country, regional or global projects.
To be successful, you’ll need to:
- be a diplomatic influencer, with excellent cross cultural people skills and sound professional and managerial judgement
- have significant experience of setting up, developing and managing large and complex development programmes within countries similar to those where WaterAid works. A high level of understanding of the associated social, political and economic issues in those contexts is required.
- have sound understanding of managing grant funded programmes (such as USAID, EC, DFID, foundations and others) and strong financial management skills.
This roving role is a full time opportunity but could be undertaken either on a full time basis, with up to 80% deployment in country, or on a part time basis, deployed on assignments for 1-3 months for no less than 50% of the year. The role’s home location must be based in an existing WaterAid country*. We offer competitive salary and benefits, which is adapted depending on the ‘home’ country. Terms and conditions will be discussed during the selection process.
With a commitment to our vision, you’ll get inspiration from the change you help make happen. We appreciate and respect different people and ideas, allow the chance to grow and the space to be yourself at your best.
See job description linked below for full details of the role.
The vacancy will close one minute to midnight on the closing date specified.
Interviews will take place between 29 May and 1 June 2018.
*Ideal home base locations would be cities in which WaterAid works which are international travel hubs for example London, Pretoria, Addis Abbaba, Delhi or Abuja.
