Job Description

You will have the opportunity to work on our ongoing water resources projects in Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Rwanda, Indonesia, and Egypt.
 
You will provide head office support and short / medium term inputs in-country contributing both to the management of projects and to successful project delivery. You will be motivated, dedicated, able to work independently and to exercise your professional judgement to positively influence projects outcomes. You will have demonstrated capability in managing teams and maintaining excellent relationships with clients and financing agencies.
 
Specific tasks may include leading multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams preparing feasibility studies and detailed designs for water resources projects; preparing bidding documents; providing procurement advice; construction supervision; O&M planning; and related activities. You will be expected to provide technical leadership and mentor more junior members of staff.
 
You will also contribute to business development activities – identifying, targeting and winning work in the water resources sector in Asia and Africa

Candidate Specification

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent;
  • A Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent;
  • Significant experience in the design, implementation, and management of civil engineering projects, some of which should have been spent working on water resources, hydraulic structures, river engineering, or irrigation and drainage projects;
  • Experience of working in developing countries in South / Central / East Asia or Africa;
  • Dedication to excellence in project planning, management, and delivery;
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary design teams composed of international and national consultants;
  • Excellent client management skills and the ability to build a network of contacts;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong inter-personal skills;
  • Extensive experience in a project environment with substantial project management experience

With a resurgence in water infrastructure projects driven by water resource challenges associated with population growth and desire for increased climate resilience we are seeking to grow our water resources team with the addition of a civil engineer with experience of working on technically challenging projects in developing countries.
