Overview:
The North American Regional Environmental Manager will be responsible for partnering with regional operations and site EHS teams in our North America network to execute company environmental policies and ensure compliance with all applicable Local, State/Province and Federal regulations. By focusing on risk assessments and compliance evaluations, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts and communicate and implement best practices. The Regional Environmental Manager must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. This individual must instruct and train Operations Leaders in company environmental policies and assist the regional teams in incorporating our environmental processes at their site. The Regional Environmental Manager will be required to possess excellent program and environmental regulatory knowledge and demonstrate this expertise when working with teams throughout the North America network.

The Regional Environmental Manager must assist in the execution of environmental development plans for the EHS personnel in their region. They must communicate environmental expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to their EHS teams and ensure they are executing to the core competencies of an Amazon environmental professional.

Regional Environmental Manager Responsibilities:
路 Possess a thorough understanding of local, state/province and federal regulations and company standards
路 Monitor the region鈥檚 performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and procedures
路 Assess the regional organization and Associate behavior to ensure programs and training are effective and consistent
路 Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable programs including storm water, POTW discharges, air emissions, ozone depleting substances, SPCC, regulated waste
路 Analyze environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine the appropriate allocation of resources to manage performance and risks
路 Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and Amazon Environmental standards
路 Influence and mentor EHS staff in assigned buildings
路 Responsible setting up environmental regulatory tasks in the company environmental management system
路 Provide environmental guidance and oversight to other departments as necessary
路 Oversee work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees at existing and new building launches
路 Conduct thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions for network implementation
路 Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently
路 Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with agency, industry, community, and professional associations to maintain and develop professional relationships, stay abreast of latest developments, and share good practices with other environmental professionals

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
路 A completed Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study
路 7+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager
路 Experience with regulatory risk assessments
路 Broad knowledge of US, Canada and state/province environmental regulations
路 Experience in managing and complex environmental programs for air, waste, and water
路 Experience leading change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports or within your organization
路 Must be willing to travel up to 60%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
路 Should possess or be working towards recognized professional certification in environmental or engineering
路 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with senior leadership
路 Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization is a plus
路 Experience demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and achieve results
路 Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
