World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Global Science Communications Intern. WWF’s half-century of conservation success is rooted firmly in science; it informs and underpins everything we do. To best deliver science in support of conservation, strong communication practice is essential. We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join us in the Washington, D.C. office to support both our internal and external communications efforts.


The Global Science Communications Intern will support both the Global Science Strategic Engagement Team, as well as specific initiatives that pertain to the Global Science Conservation Evidence portfolio.

Internship responsibilities will include:

Developing content for and managing internal online communication platforms
Developing content for and managing monthly newsletters for WWF’s internal science efforts
Supporting the development and publication of external communications materials, such as scientific reports, factsheets, science blogs, etc.
Providing general graphic design support for WWF’s Global Science team using tools such as Adobe InDesign
Perform other duties as assigned.
This internship is an excellent opportunity to interact with scientists in WWF and around the world; learn about WWF and its projects; get exposure to a wide range of conservation science topics; and play a key role in fostering sound communications within WWF’s global science network.


The successful applicant must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program (strong preference given to communications students) with a demonstrated interest in biodiversity conservation.
Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Experience with design software strongly preferred.
The successful applicant will be able to work independently, as well as part of an international, interdisciplinary team.
