Environmental Studies Program

The Environmental Studies (ES) Program at Hobart and William Snith Colleges in Geneva, NY invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Environmental Humanities beginning July 1, 2018. We seek a colleague with a background in environmental humanities or humanist social sciences with teaching and research interests in environmental literature, justice, ethics, or a related field. Teaching load is five courses per year (two semesters), including an introductory course and a 200-level “Human Values and the Environment” course. The candidate’s expertise should complement that of current ES faculty. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in a relevant environmental humanities field; applicants with degrees in the social sciences must make a compelling case that their work is humanist in nature. Advanced ABD candidates will be considered. Familiarity with interdisciplinary work at liberal arts institutions is highly desirable. Appointment will only be made at the Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor rank.
