The mission of the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) is to protect and restore the environment, conserve natural resources, and improve the quality of life in the District of Columbia. As the nation’s capital city, the District will become a model of environmental protection and sustainable environmental practices. In partnership with other District agencies, the federal government, business groups, non-profit organizations, and residents, the department will help instill environmental awareness through innovation and best practices.
This position is located in the Construction and Maintenance Branch of the Inspection and Enforcement Division, Natural Resources Administration, Department of Energy and Environment. The incumbent serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist and will function as the lead and subject matter expert for coordinating all activities related to maintenance and post construction inspections relating to stormwater management plan (SWMP) best management practices (BMPs) for operation and maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specifically, the incumbent will work in concert with staff within the Construction and Maintenance Branch and Inspection an Enforcement Division, to support the mission of the Natural Resources Administration. Responsibilities includes developing a quarterly list of recommended SWMP maintenance inspections to be conducted, coordinating the implementation of all initiatives, special projects, as well as preparing progress reports of inspections and enforcement activities relating SWM BMPs. The incumbent will also be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with sister agencies and the BMP maintenance service provider community, as well as investigating customer complaints relating to land disturbance, drainage and stormwater BMPs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
This position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 11 level in the District of Columbia government.
Knowledge of District Government regulatory, financial, and administrative processes is required.
