Environmental Monitoring Officer

Tasman District Council

Richmond, , AU

Rewarding career. Just add water.

Due to a retirement we are seeking the right person to join our Environmental Monitoring team. Full time and based in Richmond, you’ll be part of a group who collects and archives information about river flow, groundwater and rainfall, and also water quality and air quality.

Ideally you’ll be experienced in hydrological monitoring, data analysis and quality assurance. Alternatively, you might have a science, trade or technical background combined with a mathematical brain, and be prepared to shape a new career through on-job training and targeted courses.

This is a role with variety plus, having a good mix of field and office work, which means we’re looking for a diverse skill set and the ability to problem solve. The field work can be physically demanding, and you need to be a strong swimmer and confident around rivers and heights. But, it’s not all outside work! The office work is a significant component of the role and involves a lot of data management making it essential that you’re digitally savvy.

This is a team role – maybe it’s all that sunshine, but more likely it’s the fundamental group ethos which encourages continual sharing of knowledge and resources. If you like working in a motivated team and have the skills above, then this is a rare find and you’ll reap the rewards by becoming a part of it.

If you are looking for a career that requires a wide variety of practical and office skills and also has a large outdoor component then this may be just the job for you – Lets talk!
