YOUR POSITION WITH TNC
The Nature Conservancy is implementing wetland restoration projects to improve habitat for fish and waterfowl and to reduce nutrients and sediment by creating channels and open water potholes and restoring floodplains within the Lakeshore Marshes Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and Honeoye Lake WMA. The Restoration Technician will assist with carrying out project implementation actions, including response monitoring, project coordination, restoration design and community outreach during the 2018 field season. This is a full-time, short term position. Please note housing is not provided.
The Restoration Technician will assist with the design and site preparation for the restoration actions. S/he will work with staff, partners and volunteers to collect various environmental data that will be used to evaluate the project’s effectiveness. This includes collecting fish data, wetland vegetation information, working with expert volunteer birders to collect information on marsh birds and analyzing Drone imagery. S/he may also help to remove exotic species and interact with public regarding the overall objectives and strategies of the project. This is a great opportunity to learn about an active ecological restoration project, with various partner organizations and stakeholder interests.
