As part of South Pole’s (SP) Consultancy team, you will focus on the successful and efficient implementation of consultancy projects for a large number of prestigious international financial sector clients. As a Senior Consultant you will lead the development of proposals and implementation of consultancy mandates and participate in business development activities in the financial sector. In addition, you will contribute to structuring the climate risks and opportunities offering for this industry. Tasks and responsibilities

  • Design, plan and implement projects related to climate risks and opportunities for the financial sector. This includes proposal and deliverable preparation and completion to the quality required by SP and its clients

  • Liaise with clients on a project basis

  • Manage proposal and project teams, including SP’s consultants and external partners, ensuring high quality outputs, timeliness and cost efficiency of delivery

  • Identify opportunities and develop solutions to challenges related to climate change

  • Support SP’s Key Account Management team with business development activities in the financial sector

  • Participate in client meetings and stakeholder events, representing SP and its products and services

  • Contribute to structuring the financial sector offering related to climate risks and opportunities

  • Prepare presentations and reports, conduct capacity building workshops and webinars

  • Topics of engagement may include: climate risks and opportunities, fund climate strategies, portfolio climate impact assessment, green bonds, sustainable development goals or investment footprinting

Your profile

  • An University degree, ideally at a Masters level or higher, in Sustainable Finance, Finance, Economics, Environmental Management or a related discipline

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in high quality consultancy for financial sector clients, particularly in topics related to sustainable investments and climate change

  • Experience with data analysis, design and implementation of climate and/or sustainability strategies ideally within the financial sector

  • Experience in engaging with investors, asset managers, asset owners and banks

  • Experience and ability to work in teams, ideally within a international and multicultural context

  • Familiarity with the sustainable investment space and understanding of relevant finance industry context

  • Knowledge of responsible investment strategies, climate risks and opportunities and how these relate to finance industry clients’ operations and overall strategy

  • Ability to analyse climate change and sustainability issues and communicate these with finance industry stakeholders

  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to structure compelling consultancy proposals based on financial industry clients’ needs

  • Commercial skills and good business sense, to be able to identify and seize opportunities, would be an asset

  • Strong organisational skills and detail-oriented

  • Ability to prioritise, work independently, and deliver results under tight deadlines

  • Excellent oral and written commands of English and Spanish or French are essential. Further oral command in German or other languages is an advantage

  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a must

  • Dutch/UK nationality or holder of a valid work permit is a must
